Celebrating the new year of my Mother Land!
I’m a complete Chinese food snob, which means I love it but I never cook it. I know what real Chinese food should taste like and I can’t match up to my own expectations. But Chinese New Year demands Chinese food. This was my entirely-unauthentic approximation. The tea was Chrysanthemum (my favourite) and really was from China, as were the lanterns.
Happy New Year!
When I visited China as a picky grade elevener, I was pleasantly surprised by their food. I thought I would hate it, but it was so delicious!
I didn’t know you’d been to China! Where did you go? I have been to parts of China where the food was not great, but in general, it is definitely delicious!
We were in a city in the Hunan province, so inland. I probably wouldn’t have enjoyed it so much if we were on the coast and had more seafood dishes.
The seafood is some of my favourite Chinese food! I love Cantonese food, and there’s lots of things they do with fish and crab etc. But I also love noodles and dumplings…
