2021 Highlights: Week 7

Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,

the world offers itself to your imagination,

calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting –

over and over announcing your place in the family of things.

Mary Oliver, “Wild Geese”
  • A snowy Saturday!
  • A quiet holiday Monday at home.
  • A sunny Tuesday walk and a picnic at the park park.
  • A chance to rest on a rainy day.

  1. I love that Mary Oliver poem you’ve included – not one I’d heard before, though I’ve been gradually discovering her work over the last year or two and really enjoying it.

    1. I’m not widely familiar with Oliver’s work either though I like what I have read. This poem was included in an anthology I’m working my way through. I’d heard the beginning of it but not this part. It starts with the lines
“You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert, repenting.”

  2. Ah, I’m jealous of how quickly your weather turns from snow to sun! It does look like a good snow for playing in. And I love the matching sleds!

    1. I’m so used to snow that only lasts a couple of days that when I go other places or our snow does last longer I feel so confused! I like the snow but I am happy to enjoy it for just a day or two!
